Eternal Ankh

Postby gaia » Tue Aug 04, 2009 6:09 am

White Amber, Powdered and reconstructed oil of Egyptian Vanilla Husk, Vanilla fleck, African White Vanilla and the scent of soft Egyptian Sands.

OMG!!
RA gifted me with a Skarab of this with my FEx order.....*smoochies* at ya, RA!

This. is. Heaven!! No seriously.....this is what heaven should smell like! Gloriously soft vanilla amber. Soothing and warm. No sane person could ever be offended by this scent.

I'm glad I'm having sales pages going all over the place (although on a no-buy, I am allowed to recycle already spend monies), because there's no way I'll be able to make this Skarab last until the next year!!

Need. Moar!!
ordinarily insane, but has lucid moments when merely stupid......

Heavenly indeed!

This isn't just Vanilla. It's three Vanilla embodiments, which creates this whole multi-faceted Vanilla sensory experience! Sniff a little to the right and it's different than a sniff a little to the left. A sniff from the top of the hand is different than a sniff of the wrist.

This isn't Amber, this is White Amber. So rather than an expected warm fuzzy foody scent, Eternal Ankh is cool and ethereal, wispy, or as RA described it, "softer, celestial." There's even a refreshing hint of pure water to soften the heat of the sands underfoot.

Unmistakeably an Eternal, unmistakeably NA.

I wondered if this would remind me of the other Ankh, and it does, although it could just be my love for both of them talking. I have no idea what's in regular Ankh, but this Eternal has that utterly beautiful smoothness to it that is at once mild and cool but rich and lingering. Plus, piles of powdery vanilla. This is indeed a very soft, whispery vanilla, almost sugary but without any grit or caramel. Powdered sugar vanilla with sexy, mysterious Ankh amber. That's what I was coming around to. A very different installment in the Eternal line, but quite worthy of joining that illustrious company.

A crystal-clear oil, innocent yet beguiling.
NA's white amber note is fascinating - almost fruity, almost aquatic. Combined with delicate vanilla clouds, Eternal Ankh is a beautiful addition to the Eternals line. I am reminded of Victoria's Secret Vanilla Lace, and BPAL's Antique Lace. Hmmm, a lace theme emerges!!
Eternal Ankh has a distinctive NA personality, and a fine balance of lightness and creaminess. A beautiful scent that I'm positive will gain many dedicated fans!!
Ever notice how irons have a setting for permanent press? I don't get it.

Bottle: very vanilla and some amber.
Me: this is like a sweeter version of Tut Ankh Amun. It's very sweet, very soft and pretty, vanilla with a hint of amber and sand. I really like this one. I hope it continues to play nicely with my skin...
Later: yay, a vanilla that loves me back! This one is beautiful, and definitely a bottle buy in my future.

Re: Eternal Ankh

I ordered right away both a bottle and a skarab because I have never been disappointed with any Eternal. Plus so many trips I have to take skarabs are easy to carry with you without being stopped and asked to have them thrown away. Just keep them at the bottom of your carry on bag. Point taken the plane in NYC was delayed on the runway and eventually they brought us back in and sat there in the lobby for two more hours. By then the others were beginning to smell like the scent of zombie. I reached in my bag and found the silver shining label glimmering up at me in a glorious hallelujah moment. I had already tried Eternal Ankh and I knew it was beauty in a bottle so I put some on my wrist and because of the zombie factor applying from the wand is not as much as a complete drop from the big bottle so I applied a second time from the wand. I rubbed my wrists together and the zombie scent just went away. There was a moment when people began to look at me funny smelling my wrists constantly but it was worth that bit of Eternal Life in a lobby full of eternal something else. This is a beautiful vanilla and white amber and something soft and life engaging. I believe they said this was made under several full moons over a certain amount of time and you can tell it has been. The Eternal Amber they use is fresh and beautiful with the soft vanilla is like a cloud of soft sweet happy days. This is a beautiful addition to the Eternal line and well worth it if you are a fan of the eternals and vanilla to not think twice. I may buy more skarabs just for plane trips alone. What could have put me in a bad moon elevated me out of the element and reminded me to be alive and I am quite happy I am.
Never end only learn from it until it becomes the beginning.

Awww Ryan - beautiful words for a beautiful scent!! I got a bottle of EA and knew it would be magic. It is. I feel unusually protective over her - it's been humid and muggy and generally yucky the last few weeks and I almost don't want to sully the ethereal beauty of EA on these days by wearing her in these conditions!! But, I got to enjoy her over the weeknights at home and honestly, the wafts that were enveloping me were soft, comforting, and otherwordly. The vanilla is soft, creamy yet cool - and white amber is the amber that breaks my heart, it's so gorgeous... Another lovely Eternal, and even though I'm obsessed with Eternal Egypt, Eternal Ankh is true love

In the skarab - A pale green floral scent

Wet on me - Again mostly a sort of green floral, but with a sweet vanilla coming through from underneath

Dry on me - A fainter green floral with a delicate vanilla, which grows. It's not an overtly foody vanillar or a plasticy vanilla, but it's delicate and pretty

Overall - I have to admit that whilst I love vanilla I found this a little bland. It would need something else with it to make this a real winner for me

I'm so glad I got a full bottle of this one! It's beautiful :) It's a much softer vanilla & lighter scent than I normally would go for but it would be great for work as it's subtle. Very sophisticated yet sexy.

Initially a very soft white musk with powdered sugar & faint powdery vanilla. Fades slightly after ~1hr but leaves a lovely powdery white amber with a hint of vanilla.

This is a really gorgeous scent that is heavy on the vanilla side of things at the beginning however the amber spices it up and creates a beautiful soft and spicy vanilla – this is not a boring vanilla at ALL! The amber comes through even more as time passes, making this scent multifaceted and interesting and -- BONUS -- it lasts long!

I put this on before bed and sat up reading for a few hours. This scent enveloped me in mellow warmth throughout the evening and then I fell asleep with my wrist lying on the pillow next to my nose... nice!

For a vanilla lover like me, this is complete WOW :lovestruck: The more it dries down, the more layers of vanilla make themselves evident and blend seamlessly with the white amber for a soft, sensuous and utterly delicious cloud of vanilla. You can tell it's a complex vanilla, not just your mom's vanilla extract from the spice cabinet (though I'm always tempted to drink that stuff until I remember how bitter it is). I don't get the scent of "Egyptian sands" particularly but there seems to be something soft and comforting along with the amber in the background, and I'm guessing that's the sand note. It doesn't smell "sandy" at all, just soothing. It's a multitasker too; I could wear it all day and easily fall asleep with it wafting around me just as well. It's just a lovely, lovely vanilla blend.

This is not your ordinary vanilla. This is advanced vanilla. This is the standard by which all vanillas should be judged. As someone who loves vanilla, I had pretty high expectations when I ordered this naughty girl as part of my first skarab pack. Because I love vanilla, I am also very critical of bad vanilla. Anything that smells like a plastic baby doll's head is right out. So I wrinkled up my nose as I looked at the vial, said, "Well, how good can it be?", took a sniff, and got hit by pure vanilla ecstasy. This is the superheroine of vanilla, the one with the secret identity who works behind a desk and wears glasses by day, and goes out and kicks ass in a leather catsuit by night. Hot stuff.

In the Skarab: Wow, this smells very promising....I get the lovely white amber that is a part of every Eternal and lovely sweet vanilla. I can't wait to smell this on.

Wet: Wet, the vanilla really begins to bloom with the lovely white amber as its constant companion. The vanilla floats on top, beckoning to my nose. It is sweet, but not cloying.

Dry: This becomes the most wonderful blend of amber and vanilla! I can't stop sniffing my arm. It smells creamy and lavish. I would like to slather this on and sit out in the heat of summer and smell it as the heat warms it to waft around me.

I cannot believe I let this one sit in the pile so long. It is amazing! I need a bottle of this one...soooo glad it's a GC!

I loved this so much that I had to order a bottle. It is the most beautiful vanilla scent I've ever smelled and as it warms on my skin it's very far reaching. I can put this on at night and in the morning I'll be able to smell it for hours after I wake up. It has the underlying clean note that Eternal Egypt has and now I'm not sure if it's the amber or the sand note because both scents share those notes. Suffice it to say that it should be tried by everyone at least once because if you can rock this scent it will rock you back. I want to wear this all the time but then my other bottles would get neglected and I would use up my ultimate precious vanilla. This is rich, mouthwatering vanilla that isn't sweet to me or even foody. It's vanilla all grown up and wearing a sexy light-gold colored gown studded with shimmery beads and sequins and sexy high-heeled sandals. Such an elegant scent!

In the vial: A light amber baked goods smell.

On, skin wet: A slight baked goods scent that is drying into a lighter vanilla amber scent. It gets sugary, probably a bit too much for my taste, but it smells like natural vanilla pods in sugar, so the natural part gets a thumbs up from me.

Dry: It's a pretty non-offensive wear to work vanilla-amber scent. The amber stays to the back on this for me and it seems a different amber than the other NA scents I have tried. There is almost a brightness at the end of the perfume drying, I can't seem to place it. It smells like a dry wind.

Overall: If I was into vanilla scents, I'd get a bottle of this. Its a good blend and doesn't amp too much on me and it smells like natural vanilla and light amber. The sand-wind notes at the end make it unique.

Note: I had to shake my sample of this a lot in order to get it to mix up.

Wet: A soft, powdery vanilla and that sandy, airy amber note that is featured so prominently in a lot of the Eternals.

Dry: It smells like powdered sugar, creamy, rich vanilla, and a clean white amber musk. It smells very foody to me, in a vanilla ice cream sort of way. Over time the balance between the light amber, the creamy vanilla aspect, and the powdery vanilla aspect shifts around, but if I'm not paying it any attention, it's just a light cloud of vanilla.

Overall: Not interesting to me, but keep in mind that I've never been a fan of those scents that are all about showcasing the vanilla, in any perfume line. They just don't thrill me, and perhaps they don't even smell that good on me, since I have the sort of chemistry that makes almost everything smell like vanilla after enough hours have passed.

This is an interesting blend! It’s a very light, vanilla'd amber scent, but paired with it is a sand note that's lighter than most. It smells good together, but it's slightly too sweet for me and the sand note I don't like as much as I do in other blends, but still it's definitely a wonderful scent!

this blew me away. I am so glad I totally jumped the gun and got a bottle. I really LOVE sand notes. I don't know why but i think its cuz I might miss being in the southern California deserts hiking actually come to think of it it reminded me when I was hiking at the San Andreas fault with my family when I was ten with only one bottle of water and we headed up this wash. There was a spring a little more than halfway up.
Anyway! I love this perfume. Always when I put it on at first it does that thing where I can decipher all the notes within 15 minutes and it becomes a blend. A lovely lovely blend and every note is there saying "Yes I am this awesome with amber, vanilla, and sand". I like this so much I took a peice of old cloth from my ripped up jeans put some on it, saftey pinned it into a bundle, and threw it in my backpack so it keeps my backpack well you know....Eternal Ankh!

It teeters off being aquatic, floral, and foody.
Listen to Reese Van Riper.
