Dedicated to the passing of both of our feline children - the blue one and the black one - and to the beauty that is Bastet.

It is not every day that I can sit still like this - having bartered with Bastet in my prayers and meditations that she take of my energy and my health - to give the two souls that entered my life comfort and give me their pain so that they have a few moments of no seizures or heart problems. There are no pills, no more syringes of medicine, no more visits to the yucky vet - only Love and the light from the sun on your velvet blue and black faces. I Love you both - and all animals eternal - for what we do in our life - every single thing - affects us all. The sun shines so beautiful today and that makes me feel happiness in the remembrance. May this sweet scent reach you and bring you the happiness I put into it thinking of the Love of Bastet.

In the bottle: Straight from the bottle, it smells mostly like fresh, strong sandalwood strewn with sweet, heady honeysuckle. A very assertive, distinctive scent right off the bat.

Wet: There is so much more going on in this scent than I expected... it's not something you whiff and forget about, it demands your attention, much like a quixotic, playful cat would. The honeysuckle is the dominant note when wet, but the apricot is also there to give it some extra sparkle and juice. It doesn't smell like apricot cream to me so much as it smells like fresh, barely ripened apricots. I also get a cool, gently fresh blue feeling... I think the water and the "blue" sandalwood are at play here, but it's not aquatic, per se, just a very interesting, refreshing touch of calming blue that melds fascinatingly with the honeysuckle and wood.

Dry: The sandalwood note is really beautiful here... it's a true, balanced woody note, neither buttery nor powdery. The sandalwood turns out to be the strongest note for me, but the blue, almost watery coolness persists along its edges, bringing out the more refreshing side of the gently creamy rice milk and watery vanilla, and throwing the warm, intoxicating scent of honeysuckle into high relief. It wears nicely with the passing hours, fading gracefully with an occasional cameo appearance by a hint of apricot.

Overall: Beautiful! The sentiment behind this perfume is very touching, and it smells like it was crafted with heartfelt love. I can barely stop myself from continuing to sniff and analyze it, the complexity and the way the different elements play off of each other is fascinating, but also very pleasing. I love it and have never tried a perfume that smells similar. I predict that this will express itself differently on everyone and look forward to peeking at reviews. The sandalwood and honeysuckle are immediately recognizable as such but they have something special about them that's hard to put down in words. Love of Bastet is warm and cool, serene and aloof, cuddly and enticing. One of my absolute favorite NAs to date.

ETA: I have to add, that if I put this on in the evening/night, in the morning and into the next day a skin-close but very noticeable scent remains. Sadly, the super-tenacious remnants are 85% vanilla. Oh well- that's what reapplying is for!

In bottle: Sweet creamy vanilla, but not overly sweet or cloying

Wet: The vanilla, honeysuckle and sandalwood play together across my skin as this warms up

Dry: Mmmm, so lovely. I get a creamy vanilla and honeysuckle scent with sandalwood. I'm not really getting the apricot more than just a hint, but I get it's creaminss and I think the rice milk adds to the creamy element.

I reallly like this. I want to roll around in it. I completely agree with findaghost's statement

. It is a scent that demands attention, but in the best of ways!

ETA: The longer I wear this, the better it gets. The apricot has come out more after a little bit of time and it is just soooo good! This is definitely my favorite of the new LE's.

Creamy, sweet and comforting. This one is very much like a hot cup of tea (or coffee, or soup, or anything really) that "warms the soul". I am so pleased with the honeysuckle in this; honeysuckle can sometimes get to be one of those dreaded "screeching florals" on me, but it's in perfect harmony with the other notes and actually struck me more like actual honey than honeysuckle; I suppose this is also because it's nectar, which eventually does turn itno honey, but rest assured there is nothing sharply floral here. The creamy notes are just so sweet and smooth and soothing, I'm highly stressed from work this week but it's actually calming me down. After a while I notice a soft sensual sandawood on the drydown, which makes for even more to love.

Reading the dedications while wearing this is deeply moving. It's the combination of deepest love and the beautifully breathtaking scent of Love of Bastet that gets my emotions stirring with a sort of melancholy joy. This couldn't be any more perfect, imo. I can tell you that off the bat this is truly an amazing vanilla scent and one that I have no other to compare to. I expected the vanilla to be airy and wispy because of the water aspect but it turns out that the vanilla is strongest on me and it has such amazing staying power and depth. It's as if the oil is comprised of little spheres which burst to release their intoxicating scent that swirls all around me. It's comforting, creamy, sweet and made more beautiful by the other supporting notes. I honestly get nothing predominately foody, floral, fruity or woody but just this phenomenal all-encompassing scent that is really like a presence. I am so happy to have two bottles of this and I'm also happy that it'll be available for the month of July so that no one will miss out on it. Even if it sounds like it's not up your alley, try and get a decant if you can and odds are that you will order a bottle or two (maybe three!).

I read everyone's reviews here for Love of Bastet and before I left NYC I applied this to drown out the city smell and then I boarded my plane back to London before moving onto the next destination. When the lights went out on the plane save for the exit sign light and everyone was asleep the scent of honeysuckle and apricots and this haze of spectral lights came at me and lulled me to sleep but before I fell asleep I looked out of the plane window and saw my reflection looking back at me. I looked like I was at peace. It made me think of what everyone from both NA and VA and at the pyramid wrote and I took a good breath and clarification came to me. A very harmonizing blend and comforting. For the loss I can only send peace for the scent I can only have a love of Bastet and an internal balance to both sides. My sincerest strength and gratitude to you that create from the core.

In the bottle - A sweet sugary vanilla with perhaps just a touch of the honeysuckle nectar

Wet on me - It takes on the feel (but not necessarily the scent) of incense and there are tiny touches of apricot in the background

Dry on me - The rice milk, vanilla water and apricot cream all swirl around in a gentle eddy of scent with wafts of honeysuckle nectar rising around the edges

Overall - This is a hug from a loved one when you have been away fo far too long. Close your eyes and let the feeling sink in

Love of Bastet is soft, sweet and comforting, just like I know the sweet kitties who inspired this scent must be. I say must be (instead of must have been) since they both live within and all around those who love them beyond love. The mild fruit, sweet, light flowers and grounding sandalwood in this perfume pull together all good things into one. This is a scent of warmth and peace, and is a very special one indeed. Thank you for sharing the essence of your dear ones with us.

In vial (decant): soft and creamy, very sweet.
On me: honeysuckle with a warm grounding of sandalwood. This is sweet and light and pretty. Very ethereal. As it dries down, the honeysuckle mingles well with the sandalwood, adding sweetness to it without overwhelming it with floral. The sandalwood, in turn, becomes warm and soft and fuzzy. The whole scent is very reminiscent of cuddling with a beloved cat. I really love this one!

In the bottle: Very heady honeysuckle. Fresh, decadent petals. I didn't pick up much of the vanilla or sandalwood.

We on skin: The honeysuckle is still very dominant, a fleshy flower petal sweetness. I pick up a hint of sweetness as a backdrop, but no woodiness from the sandalwood yet. Very fresh scent of honeysuckle, not sickly sweet.

After 5 minutes on skin: Still very strong honeysuckle. Ideal if you love honeysuckle. Some of the woody spice of the sandalwood is emerging, faintly. A sweeter hint is bodying up.

Dry in skin: Dominant sent is honeysuckle, faint wood undertone. The vanilla has emerged a bit, and it's sweet and creamy. I realized the apricot cream may be contributing to the dominance of the honeysuckle, as they are similar in some ways.

After several hours: The sweet flowers have died back, revealing vanilla and the rice milk mentioned in the description! It really smells just like the rice milk I make at home, which includes a splash of vanilla extract. It's a warm scent. The sandalwood is gone.

Intriguing scent. I loved the sentiment behind the scent, and the story--and am glad to have a bottle. It's really most ideal if you love honeysuckle. I find the afterimage of it, several hours later, to be especially pleasant.

Honeysuckle hard candy. If there were such a thing (someone should make such a thing!). The apricot just sweetens up all the other notes without overpowering them and makes it all edible! The sandalwood sneaks around in back doing its own sexy dance. Everything I expected from the rave reviews & more! Utterly beautiful.

A touching, heartfelt fragrance that perfectly represents the genuine sentiment that it was created to embody. Love of Bastet is one of those rare perfumes that tugs at your soul and makes an imprint on your memory.
The fragrance opens with a balanced harmony of juicy apricot and warm sandalwood (think Nokturne: Santalum). Santalum is my favorite sandalwood note in existence, and I've tried a million, so that alone wins me over. The sweet apricot perfectly complements the sandalwood, it's like jigsaw puzzle pieces. As the scent warms and sinks into the skin, the vanilla and cream make themselves known. It's a difficult scent to describe, it's so well blended and beautiful!
This perfume is special in so many ways, not the least of which is the joyous memory that inspired it. I am honored to own a bottle, and I am certain that it will become a sought after rare gem in the future. Just gloriously beautiful and sunkissed. Love to Emerson.
