Bastet's Choco Cake Moon

Postby SaphyRyan » Sat Sep 05, 2009 5:57 am

Soft Egyptian Sugar, Chocolate, Cake, touch of vanilla and a drop of the best Frankincense we have! AND one tiny drop of honey for our Pyramid Supreme Deity 'Egypt's' birthday.

This is stunning. I walked into my hotel room and there was a message for my number that I had a package arrive. I was excited for one second and then figured it was impossible to have my NA order already especially having had changed addresses on RA once again. In NY right now and very elated to be handed over a box with a blue mummy embossed on it. I took the elevator instead of the stairs because I was ready to open that box! The first oils I grabbed were the two Nokturnes, the two Scroll of Thoth III's and the three Bastet Moons. Choco cake wanted to be first and since I felt so amazed at the speed of the lab and of the mail system within the US I needed to have my cake and wear it too. This is chocolate cake in the air just out of the oven. The frankincense adds a soft resin to the chocolate while the vanilla and sugar accentuate the already edible cake scent. I know NA is good at dessert scents but and I expected the frankincense to make cake wearable as an oil but really opening the bottle it was difficult to even put it on my skin it smelled so awesome all by itself. I love Bastet and your choco cake and adding that drop of honey for Egypt's birthday makes it even deeper and somewhat more of a sexy scent. NA you outdid yourself again. Gnaw. This makes me hungry. X:X
Never end only learn from it until it becomes the beginning.

Well. This is just too perfect.

Ryan said it - chocolate cake in the air just out of the oven. Steamy and dreamy, a divine temptation of perfect chocolate cake. I definitely feel like I need some moist tender chocolate cake right now!

I just LOVE this scent! I'm having trouble saying anything more. It's just so so yummy. Love love love!! I hope that everyone who is interested gets to try this. It's amazing. Better than any foodie blend I've ever smelled. Delicious but not cloying or "too much."
Ever notice how irons have a setting for permanent press? I don't get it.

Finally getting around to a proper test of this one! I wish I was getting what you guys are! In the bottle and upon first application it's absolutely perfect! It's a yummy smelling chocolate cake with just a hint of berries. Swoon! Then after about an hour of wear I notice this odd scent. After some searching I realize it's me. What is a pretty awesome blend in the bottle and the first little while on me, it now smells like burnt rubber/plastic. This is the first blend I've ever had that's gone plastic on me, be it NA, BPAL what have you. Now I understand what people mean when they say this.

Perhaps it would be better in a scent locket? I'll give that a try then report back!

eta: Ok, tried it in my new scent locket and it's win! It stays the gorgeous scent that it starts out as! I don't know what kinda shenanigans my skin chemistry plays with this but I wish it didn't!

I was lucky enough to receive a decant of this from a lovely forum member (thank you!), and this is one amazing scent!

It truly is exactly what it says on the label: warm chocolate cake, rich, freshly baked, with a gooey fudge drizzle on top. Good staying power too...I'm still smelling whiffs of this many hours later.

I got no less than seven compliments on this scent at work today. I don't think any scent I've ever worn in public has ever gotten such rave reviews and this many comments. Everyone kept gushing about how good it smelled. Several people asked me if I was eating chocolate baked goods at my desk, and were amazed that such a realistic scent could come in oil form.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring...

Bastet’s Choco Cake Moon
In bottle: mmmm, this smells just like a brownie!
On skin: still brownie-liscious, and there’s a lovely richness to it that reminds me of proper home made chocolate cake. It smells a tad more metallic on my skin-darn you skin chemistry-but it’s still delicious. I can smell rich chocolate cake, moist and indulgent and made with the darkest chocolate-but I also smell a dusting of icing sugar on top, which again reminds me of the cake my godmother makes. I also smell a hint of honey, just a little drop of it. No frankincense yet but the chocolate cake scent is really delicious. The metallic smell quickly fades though and the scent turns from rich chocolate cake to sweeter brownies, with a hint of the crispy outside and softer inside, and with bits of chocolate fudge mixed in. I want to eat my wrist off. I think this is one of the nicest of the foody scents. It also resembles Yummified Mummified and I’ll need to compare them-I think I still prefer YM, but this is really delicious. I just wish I got the frankincense. But other than that this is one of the best chocolate cake scents around and I have a feeling it’ll be drool-worthy in a scent locket!

oh woes... i wore this today and i think that chocolate is not my friend. neither is honey! and foody scents are always a teeny bit tricky... i'm so jealous of everyone else's cooperative skin chemistry!! this unfortunately didn't work for me. the honey became a little sour, and the rest went plastic... no chocolate cake for me, sadly!

In the bottle - Chocolate sponge, moist and dark and quite possibly with a butter cream filling

Wet on me - Again with the soft moist sponge, but this time there is a hint of something dusty

Dry on me - Aaaaargh it turns to stale cigarette smoke

Overall - The initial scent and the dry down 3 hours later when it reverts to cake is lovely, it's just a pity my skin chemistry hates me

In the bottle: rich sweet dark chocolate and soft, tasty cake

Wet: really dark chocolate, sweet, makes me think of a very rich chocolate frosting with a light spongey chocolate underneath

dry: This still smells wonderful! It's more of a subdued chocolate now, but you can still smell that cakey undertone and the deep sweet richness.

So glad I was able to snag a bottle of this! Cookie Dough Moon still beats it out, but it does smell quite good!

Absolutely amazing and downright delicious. Did I mention delicious? Take the already luscious foodiness of the cake, vanilla (do I detect something from Kobalt?) and sugar (which is soft as the description says and nowhere near cloying), add frankincense and just like Cookie Dough moon, it goes from already mouthwatering to eat-me-alive foody-sexy. The resinous depth of the frankincense, and I imagine this one in particular to be pretty dark stuff, only makes it richer and warmer and just kicks the sexiness up a notch. The addition of the honey is the perfect finish--even more delicious dimension! I'd bathe in a vat of this if I could.

The first time I wore this, it settled into a generic cocoa powder scent on me, so I decided to let it rest and then promptly forgot to re-check it.

In the bottle: Chocolate cake, still warm from the oven.

Wet: chocolate and something funky. Not sure if the something funky is good or bad.

After a couple minutes, this is a lot less chocolate cake, and the funky has smoothed out to be resinous, sorta (I don't generally wear things with frankincense (not sure why) so it explains why I wasn't picking up on it).

The honey is starting to peek out too. Too bad the chocolate has headed to the hills. I'm left with a honey-tinged resin which is pretty, but not very "me" and not something I'd reach for. Forays into the more gourmand scents are always adventures into the unknown with my silly skin - I can do chocolate notes well, but once you add flour and make that chocolate a baked good, things go south fast on my skin.
