Mnemythe

Mnemythe

In vial: spicy sandalwood musk and nag champa. Reminds me of the Underworld but not as smoky and dark.
On skin: hmm, interesting. This smells dry and crumbly, oddly foody but oddly dusty, like a strange combination of sand and biscuits/crackers. Reminds me of when I was at the beach as a child. But yes, this is a very sandy scent, very dry and golden and hot, but with hints of musk. I think it's the Indian musk which gives the scent a hint of something like nag champa, it smells like Indian incense and spices, whilst the Egyptian musk does it's thing and gives the scent a hint of sun warmed skin. There's also a hint of golden lemony sandalwood to this. This is a scent of desert sands, arid and gritty and golden, spicy and warm, with a clean skin aspect to it. Very evocative but quite wearable. I do prefer Abu Simbel though, that had a sandy spice scent to it, but was hotter and didn't have the odd 'cracker' scent I get from here (I know, it's mad, but I smell crackers or bread here). For a 'purely musk' scent, this is surprisingly complex.

Description: Dragon from the furthest recesses of darkness. He is the Anubis of Dragons. His scent is of Musk. All musk. China Musk, Red Musk, Egyptian Red Musk, Egyptian white musk and Indian Musk. And a touch of dark coffee (the non-bitter kind - the one previously used in Cardamom Coffee LE). The smell of Egypt at night, coying in the furthest crevices of night - waiting for the darkness to call upon it.

I don't really like coffee so I would probably never have thought I'd love this scent but I do! It's warm and spicy and dry but it's not foodie. The musk is delicious and well, musky but very interesting and complex like the mingling smoke from a dozen temple offerings. The dark coffee just adds the slightest bite but manages to not smell anything like coffee but rather a vague dark grounding note to all the swirling smoke. This is the most surprising and most wearable dragon! I definitely need a bottle.

Am testing this one right now, for the second time. At first, it's oddly foody-salty, which I so did not expect. There's spice and sweet both. It's only an undertone, but I keep trying to decide if it's Doritos or caramel corn. The main scent is warm and resinous, though, amber-y. Will have to wait and see what the final drydown is like, but it's oddly nice, even if my skin chemistry wants to turn it into Doritos.

This is my second test of this one, since I put way too much of this on the first time and found it so overwhelming after a while that I had to wash it off. This go round has been far more sucessful - obviously the key to this one is to be lighthanded!

At first it is smooth sweet coffee with musk underneath. Different but quite nice, and I'm not a lover of coffee in perfumes. But this isn't overly foody. Once dry the coffee fades and the musks really take over. Along with a note that I'm really not too sure about, it's an almost dirty note. It could be one of the darker musks (although I've never met a musk I didn't love), or it could be the combination of musk and coffee, but my brain wants to say it's vetivert or patchouli. If it is either it's only a dash, and of the two I'd be more inclined to say vetivert since it sticks around on me but patchouli doesn't. Of course I am probably completely wrong!

Whatever it is, this is the note that caused me problems the first test. This time it's far better, but difficult to describe. Very good throw (and that dirty note is more apparent in the throw than on my skin) and last. This is one I need to revisit later when I've got more experience with NA.

Bottle: Sweet and nutty.
Me: Yep, sweet and nutty! I'm getting the musk, but I think I'm mostly getting the coffee, and the two combined seem nutty and sweet, with a cleanish note, almost like cotton, underneath it. This is really nice.
Later: The coffee wears off and this smells like fresh, crisp linens on me. o_0 It's nice, but not really what I wanted. (And really, really strange that I get that note...)

One of my favorites... The nag champa incense seems to be somewhat dominant along with the coffee but the rest is smooth musk.

musks! I have a hard time distinguishing them, but this has some very pretty components in it. It is vaguely sweet, a leeeetle bit nutty (sometimes musks have a "peanut butter" quality to them, but it's only a hint here) and there's juuuust the slightest hint of espresso in the background, but it's mostly musk. If you're a musk lover, don't worry about the coffee, it's very faint! It's a skin scent, for your pleasure alone, with very little throw but good lasting power. I'd also wager there's a lot of benzoins and perhaps some myrrh underneath, as it reminds me a lot of the Netherworld.

In the skarab - Something clean and not quite there

Wet on me - An odd combination of musk and banana flavouring

Dry on me - A mix of clean, bright musks and deep, sensuous ones

Overall - The sort of blend I could snuggle into, just not with me me wearing it

My immediate scarabression – buttered toast with spices - mmm! This then moves to buttered popcorn Jelly Bellys on me (one of my favorite flavors, incidentally) - this is the bomb!! I definitely get the sweet/savory scent combination that delicate_fangs mentioned. This doesn’t fade fast but also doesn’t have a strong throw. The scent is absolutely YUM!

Interesting, Coffee and Musk... The Coffee doesn't smell like 'coffee,' it just smells dry, and mixed with the Musks the wet stage is that, dry and a little earthy. Upon drydown the cool, clean and fresh China and Egyptian White Musks take over. Final stage sees the warmer Red Musks finally coming through along with a bit of traditional incense.

I like this, thought I'd Love it - I think this is a circumstance where the sum is less than its parts. But I also feel the need to do continued testing ;)

 I see I'm not the only one (thank goodness) who gets corn from this. How popcorn is even possible from this blend I have no idea, but there it is. It's still a clean musk scent overall but the popped corn note lingers too long on me and it makes the scent sort of salty. Try as I may, I can't smell coffee as I know it to smell. I'd say that if you are fond of clean, ocean water scents with a salty sea spray feel to them, this may be worth a try.
