Egyptian Veneration

Postby Egypt » Wed May 07, 2008 12:56 am

"Annoint me within the realm of my being. Find the path that is chosen for me and give me the
strength to turn away from that which quietly whispers me away from my life. Let the sound of
your voice resinate within my heart and in all of my being and let not the drive of slumber take
me from this place but instead push me forward closer to where I must be, closer to where I feel
again and closer still the unification of the beating of our hearts in the same pulse. I say unto you:
I annoint myself with Love. I annoint myself with strength. I annoint myself with the power and
utter beauty of being alive."
Emerson Hart on behalf of Nocturne Alchemy and Affirmative Ritual of the Temple and
of Thyself.

Ravensara of Madagascar EO, Litsea of China EO, Anise of Egypt EO, Ylang Ylang of Madagascar EO,
Cajeput of Australia EO, Amyris of Haiti EO, Manuka of New Zealand EO, Blue Yarrow of Bulgaria EO,
Sweet Orange of Brazil EO, Citronella of Java EO, Nutmeg of Indonesia EO, Vanilla Absolute and a base
of Amber Musk of Egypt in a carrier of 100% Organic Jojoba. A new recipe from Nocturne Alchemy with
the Ancients of Egypt within the borders of illumination. A bright scent unlike any other NA oil. For
Annointing and for Strength of Existence.

In the bottle this is almost pure citronella, which I happen to love the scent of. Applied to skin it softens a bit but remains the same for the first few minutes. As it warms the vanilla and musk start to emerge and they're absolutely lovely! There's a touch of orange and hint of anise but the rest of the notes are so well blended I'm not able to pick them out individually. A truly beautiful blend it is...

More importantly, its efficacy as a purpose oil is wonderful. It immediately brings a calm, and peace within myself. It boosts the confidence and helps you see things with more clarity. It encourages one to love the self. Without ego.
I hoped we'd get these types of oils and was THRILLED when RA announced they were on the way =)

Approach and use these oils with great respect. Wear them as perfume if you prefer but always remember their purpose. They deserve no less.
Thank you again RA. This is stunning.

Bottle: Spicy and dark. Getting a hint of the anise. Oh no.
Me: This is kinda nice. It's spicy and a little herbal/green. Hint of something lemony and a touch of sweet. Thankfully (for me), the anise never comes out strongly on my skin. This is very well blended, in that not a lot of the notes jump out individually. It's also very unusual, and not really something I've ever come across before.
Later: There's a period of time in the drydown when the citronella comes out very heavily, and smells a bit like the mosquito repellent candles. It doesn't last terribly long, though, and then this becomes much lighter and sweeter. The best news is that it seemed to work. I was feeling pretty down when I put it on, but as I wore it, I felt better -- stronger and less sad. I will definitely be turning to this one again.

I love this scent. When I opened the bottle I thought, uh oh, lemon. Lemon and I have a problem, it loves me too much and turns into Pledge. I took another sniff and it isn't lemon it's Citronella. This smells like a light fluffly lemony cloud. It lightens my spirits and cleanses my space. I put some in my oil burner on Mother's Day. What a wonderful scent. I wish I could have this be a GC, maybe a category on it's own of oils for your sacred space? This is a very happy soothing scent. Thanks RA and the NAlchemists!

Whoa, sweet vanilla citrus herbal love. The anise gives it a interesting spiciness and litsea that dense clean scent. What a pretty blend! Ylang Ylang comes through in a few minutes, a sweet, smiling floral, very uplifting. Now, the oil is calming down into a mediative state, still sweet and warm ambery wood with a touch of rich green herbal.

If you like citronella, this is the blend for you! Unfortunately, I really can't take it as a main note in a blend, so this one's getting passed on to someone who loves it. But it's a lovely citronella backed by sweet florals and vanilla.

In the bottle: Stale musty herbs and strong ylang-ylang hit your face as you open up the tomb and as the wind picks up, you are surrounded by a blast of embalming spices and herbs. You are touched by something creamy. (Now for thoughts in the first person...)

On skin, wet: Citronella, indeed!!! Hello there citronella, are you going to let me breathe?

Drying: Creamy lemony resin. I start to get a spicy ylang-ylang too, like that and the lemon tag team of Citronella and Litsea are excelling in their dominance. The creaminess I am assuming is coming from the vanilla, with the nutmeg coming out as a spice as does anise. I am not sure if I am smelling any of these: Cajeput of Australia EO, Amyris of Haiti EO, Manuka of New Zealand EO, Blue Yarrow of Bulgaria EO. I am not familiar enough with them in perfume to place them. When it is complete dry, I start to smell orange.

I guess the notes I don't know might be playing a minor role in this. I do smell a tiny bit of something evergreen like cajeput, amyris brings more lemon to the party, manuka and yarrow I am not sure of...but is the first tea tree oil? I have no idea what Yarrow EO smells like.

Overall: Very interesting mix. Don't let the bug snapping power of its citronella blast scare you, it eventually calms into a creamy citrus blend with a spicy floral undernote. It does take time for it to blend (you got a half hour to kill?) but it is worth the wait!
