Zahr Om Ali

Postby agameofthree » Sun Apr 05, 2009 1:22 pm

Deep intoxicating Vanilla Essence, Spices of subtle cinnamon and Golden Clove, Warm Buttery Pastry, Egyptian sugar water, Flecks of Vanilla Bean, Nokturne:Sapphire and rich decadent Egyptian pineapple extract.

Bottle: Pineapple!
Me: Mostly pineapple, with a slight hint of sugar and spices. Not really getting the pastry scent, at least when wet. This is very tropical and summery!
Later: The pineapple fades quickly, and eventually, this becomes a very soft vanilla and pastry scent, but it doesn't have a strong throw.

This is nice. I was hoping for something similar to plum om ali and this does not disappoint. Pineapple and spices and that finish of NA sapphire that always pleases the senses. I think about walking up to a pastry vendor and smelling the pineapple and then biting into it and tasting the exotic spices and afterwards that glorious harmonious sapphire treads under my nose as I walk away. I really enjoyed reading the description and the throw stayed for a long time on me. I went to bed and woke up feeling balanced. Do not wear this unless you are planning an outing to the pastry vendor. I would not call it too sweet but just enough for a spring day and a nice pick me up. Foodies unite!
Never end only learn from it until it becomes the beginning.

Right off the bat this smells fruity - like candied pineapple. That's all I can smell if pineapple and sweetness. After a little while it starts to simmer down a bit and I imagine the clove and cinnamon are part of what's bringing the warmth to the scent. I might not buy a bottle of this, but I could see myself wearing this on a sticky hot summer night, out to the beach where the sea breeze will tease the scent off my neck in tendrils.

Buttery pastry and tart sweet pineapple, very candylike…the cinnamon & clove move in and the scent is made spicy & warm, N: Sapphire carry this up and out of your hand and unto your skin and memory. I might need a bottle of this.

In the bottle this scent was butter and pineapple. On my skin it was sweet pineapple with a bit of spice in the background. After a while the clove comes out and is a bit stronger than the pineapple. It's sweet fruity spicy goodness.

At long last, a pineapple scent that stays true on my skin and doesn't turn to nasty chemical yuck! In the bottle and wet on my skin, it's mostly juicy-fresh pineapple with just a hint of other delectable things in the background. As it dries down, the clove, vanilla and pastry warm up and turn everything luscious, but the pineapple keeps center stage. The musk rounds everything out with a touch of sexiness. I could wish that Zahr lasted longer, but since it's a GC I can afford to reapply every 2-3 hours. This one is absolute :wordlove:

Really really didn't expect to like this - pineapple perfume, are you sure? Ok, I'll try it.

:pheart: YUM!

That first blast of Pineapple is very sweet, like dried Pineapple of, yes, pastried fruit, Pineapple upside-down cake. Then there's this extra-large scoop (or two!) of the most DELICIOUS Vanilla Bean ice cream on the side. The Pineapple quickly settles (it's nearly tooth-aching at first) and then I get a little warm Cinnamon and Pastry, but no Clove, and it's not very Buttery to my nose, thank goodness. Finally the Vanilla Bean ice cream melts into thick heavenly N: Sapphire, and that's always a great finish!

I can't believe this, but I actually want to smell like Pineapple!

I had better review this one because I keep getting whiffs of it from my arm and it's just so insistently good. :drooley: Three cheers for NA, because finally there's a pineapple that escapes its tropical-pina-colada stereotype! This is warm, caramelized pineapple like a slice you pulled off the grill just before it got to the point of burning, dark and nearly candied. Plus some butter and sugar for good measure. No, really, I want to eat my arm. It finishes up with a tiny, tiny dash of spice just to keep you on your toes. Heaven.

Sigh... No vanilla... again! :worried: I did sort of like this, but it's too fruity for me to really wear it :D

Fruit explosion in the vial & while wet all pineapple. It’s very sweet but luckily no clove. Becomes sweeter but less fruity when drying down; fruit mellows & sweetness gets syrup like. A slight hint of butter cookie in the background. The scent mellows more leaving a soft but sweet pineapple scent.

Om nom nom nom... I want to eat my arm. Or make baklava. This remind me a lot of baklava, only with pineapple instead of nuts and vanilla syrup instead of honey. Luckily, the pastry bit stays solidly in the realm of flaky, buttery goodness with no hint of pumpkin. Not that I have anything against pumpkin, but I really have to be in a specific mood for it.

This will be a good summer scent, although I think I'll have to be careful about where I wear it. I can see this really attracting bees.

Deep and intoxicating alright! This is the richest, most decadent vanillaed pineapple ever. It's more buttery from the pastry note wet, but as it dries down the pastry becomes a supporting note for the juicy pineapple and luscious vanilla. A hint of spice also emerges on the drydown, adding to the exotic feel, and Sapphire gives it a sensuous base. It was all I could do not to gnaw my wrist off.

In the Skarab: Super sweetened pineapple

Wet: Very sweet still, almost too much for me. It reminds me of pineapple candy.

Dry: There's something about this that gives off a sense of warmth. I'm not sure what it is, but when I sniff it, I expect to feel the heat from the oven that baked this pastry. The sweetness back off a little, in a good way, now that this is drying. I also get a hint of the smell of the butttery pastry.

This is not one of my favorites, but I could see myself being in the mood for it every once in a while.

Wet: PINEAPPLE, loud and clear. Sweet, super ripe pineapple sliced up and sitting in its own juice. It's really strong and really sweet... too sweet for me, but maybe I slathered too much on.

Dry: The pineapple very gradually fades down as the other notes step forward. After a while, it turns to pineapple balanced out with pastries or cookies, definitely foody and rolled in vanilla, but not overly buttery. Eventually it fades into a sweet, slightly powdery vanilla musk infused with an enduring touch of sweet pineapple.

Overall: Well, I was impressed by the clarity and realism of the pineapple note. I agree with Electric Maenad... this is totally the sort of thing that would attract bees, haha!

This is a gorgeous and real pineapple scent! I know there's spices and pastry in there but none of it is detected by my nose. I get simply the yummiest dried pineapple dusted with vanilla sugar and an extra dose of smooth, white vanilla (that's the color this vanilla evokes). I say dried pineapple because the scen't isn't tart or juicy. I'm still not sure I can identify Nocturne Sapphire yet but if it creates a soft, sandalwood-type vibe, then I guess I'm smelling it. It's so airy and not at all heavy but it has great throw and lasting power. A perfect summer scent for sure!
